Evaluation of reforms to the Renewable Heat Incentive

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) was designed to encourage uptake of renewable heat technologies amongst householders, communities and businesses through financial incentives.

The evaluation of reforms to the RHI consisted of a multi-year programme of research, analysis and evidence synthesis, covering both the domestic and non-domestic schemes.

As part of the consortium delivering this evaluation, we conducted retrospective and ongoing monitoring surveys (both online and telephone), with thousands of applicants to each RHI scheme.

Capturing and scrutinising key metrics, the surveys provided an evidence-rich time series to support the assessment of individual reforms, and inform future heat decarbonisation policy.
