Client: National Lottery Community Fund
The National Lottery Community Fund Grant Holder Survey

GC Insight designed and delivered a large-scale grant holder survey to evidence the reach and impact of The National Lottery Community Fund’s investments across the UK. This work formed a central part of the Fund’s annual impact reporting and provided a robust evidence base on what funded projects achieved.

Our Role:

We carefully developed the survey to capture consistent, comparable data across a diverse portfolio of grants. Close collaboration with the client ensured alignment with key strategic priorities, including outcomes for communities, children and young people, health and wellbeing, and environmental sustainability. The questionnaire was tested and refined to ensure it was clear, accessible and proportionate for a wide range of grant holders.

Delivery covered all stages of the survey process, including sampling, fieldwork and quality assurance. Strong response rates were achieved across different organisation types, from small community groups to larger charities. Data was then cleaned, weighted and analysed to produce estimates of reach and outcomes.

Outcome:

This analysis generated clear evidence on the scale and nature of impact, including the number of people supported and the extent to which projects improved wellbeing, strengthened connections and supported local communities. Differences by grant type and geography were also explored to highlight where funding had the greatest effect.
