Bolton Visitor Economy Strategy and Delivery Plan

  • Year: 2024
  • Client: Bolton Council
  • Delivered By: GC Insight

GC Insight, working in collaboration with Marketing Manchester, developed a new Visitor Economy Strategy for the borough of Bolton spanning the 2024-2030 period.

The Strategy levered Bolton’s strategic position within Greater Manchester, rich history and natural landscapes, to establish a strategic framework for the development of the sector. The strategy was underpinned by a comprehensive evidence base informing the effective targeting of issues and opportunities to realise potential.

GC Insight was commissioned by Bolton City Council to:

  • Conduct research and analysis of the visitor economy in the NE to produce a robust evidence base used to conduct and consult widely with stakeholders across the Visitor Economy via in-depth interviews and thematic workshops.
  • Create a position statement with clarity in the USPs and high-level messaging and Visitor economy thematic narratives that can be used with key audiences and support the development of further marketing plans.
  • Develop a high-level visitor economy strategy that is engaging and accessible to residents, businesses, stakeholders and future investors.
  • Provide an Action Plan and Delivery plan identifying key messages and audiences, whilst setting out marketing / PR activities, channels and products.

Outcome: Production of a widely consulted and supported strategy for the growth for Bolton's visitor economy, that is aligned to and integrated with the wider Bolton Place Brand Strategy.
