Liverpool City Region Destination Management Plan

  • Client: Liverpool City Region

GC Insight developed a clear, ambitious and deliverable five-year Destination Management Plan (DMP) for Liverpool City Region, covering the local authorities of Liverpool, Wirral, St Helens, Knowsley, Halton and Sefton (including the seaside town of Southport).

The study included:

  • Review and research of relevant policy, data and strategy to produce an Evidence Base Summary Report
  • Creation of a strategic framework with a vision, three missions and strategic priorities
  • Working with stakeholders to develop a prioritised action plan
  • Development of a set of comparator case studies
  • Stakeholder consultations and thematic workshops to gain insights into the key strengths and opportunities for the region as a key visitor destination.

Outcome

The DMP is an important milestone for the visitor economy, providing an opportunity to bring partners together, and has a strong focus on culture and heritage. It will enable the newly formed Liverpool City Region Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP) to take stock of the area’s strengths, challenges and opportunities, and to develop an evidence based, shared vision, priorities and action plan. This provides a framework for promotion and delivery, and makes the case for investment.

This framework sets out a clear and ambitious roadmap for our shared journey. It aligns local strategies with national aspirations, ensuring a coordinated approach to managing and growing the visitor economy in Liverpool City Region.

Lord Tony Hall, Baron Hall of Birkenhead, Chair of Liverpool City Region Local Visitor Economy Partnership

Liverpool City region worked with the team at GC insight to help develop the vision and strategy for the city region for the next 5 years, a critical document for any LVEP. The work they completed was thorough, thought-provoking and provided a clear framework for delivery.

What was really refreshing, was their ability to keep the individual identity of the region at the heart of this work – it is uniquely Liverpool City Region. They achieved this through a personable approach, eager to listen and learn, and form solutions and propositions around the region’s needs.

Would we work with them again? Most definitely.
