Thurrock Economic Development Needs Assessment

  • Year: 2024
  • Client: Thurrock Council
  • Delivered By: GC Insight

GC Insight is supporting Thurrock Council as they update their Economic Development Needs Assessment. The research is required to inform their New Local Plan covering a 20-year period. GC Insight is carrying out a review of the socio-economic baseline position for the area and updating the policy context informing the EDNA. A number of scenarios will be developed setting out potential future demand for employment land. These will take into account the role of town centres as well as the impact of strategic sites and projects including the Freeport and Lower Thames Crossing. Our work will make recommendations for how Thurrock can support the growth of key sectors and ensure that the supply of strategic employment land is aligned with demand. Following on from this, our team is expected to give evidence on employment demand issues at the Examination in Public (EiP) for the Local Plan.
